Enchanted Garden

While tending my garden
In the dew-drop hours
I noticed my friend
Flitting through the flowers;
Happily soaring
Dancing on air
Warming her wings
Like she hadn't a care.

I found her when she fit
A needles eye
And provided her shelter
Until she could fly.
Now this butterfly
Calls my garden home
And although she
Could leave me,
Not far does she roam.

This day I told her
Of my lament;
That with all the years
In my garden spent,
Not once had I noticed
A faery or spite,
No matter my search through
The day and the night.

" You must say you believe."
Was her one request,
" And if you do this,
I shall help with your quest."
I closed my eyes
To affirm my belief,
When she fluttered her wings
To take her leave.

And as she carried my wishes
Through the soft twilight,
This she did say,
Much to my delight.
" Awaken sweet faeries!
Arise little sprite!
For the garden keeper
Longs to meet you
Tonight!"
